When: 1-5 November 2005
Where: Opera House, Manchester

What: In a world first, Gorillaz' smash hit second album Demon Days is performed in its entirety across five consecutive nights at the Opera House as part of a series of trailblazing events ahead of the inaugural Manchester International Festival in late June and early July 2007.

The album's guest musicians descend on Manchester to take on the task of recreating the three-million selling Demon Days live onstage. The two-dimensional band members take a back seat as their musical collaborators are brought together for the first time ever, in five remarkable and unrepeatable performances.

Guest musicians include Happy Mondays front-man Shaun Ryder and UK hip hop artist Roots Manuva, among others. Demon Days producer and Gorillaz co-creator Damon Albarn is also be on hand to help bring the album to life.

Murdoc comments: "The way I look at this gig is kinda like the Pope giving his blessing to another Parish. Gorillaz whole-heartedly condone these Manchester concerts and I'm sure musically it'll be top-notch, especially with the original guests. You should look at it like a great orchestra performing the works of, say, Beethoven. These gigs will be the only 'Gorillaz Approved' renditions we ever allow, so catch it while you can."

When: 6-22 June 2005
Where: USA

What: In classic style, Gorillaz went on tour from 6/6/6 (June 6 at 6pm) and embarked on a 40 date jaunt across America's radio stations, sometimes hitting several a day over the course of three weeks!

Here's what Murdoc had to say about the radio tour:

"Hey. It's not enough that we've just recorded and released the defining album of the century, now we've gotta go tell the world about it! So, for this reason we've decided to do a tour of radio stations right round the States. We're gonna play some live songs, maybe talk a little about the album, crack some jokes. A kind of... press junket. You know, doing a tour like this is a little like running for office, campaigning for the listener's vote. Although in this case I think it's a little er... like bringing the mountain to Mohammed. I mean, we've just released a CD with 15 fucking good reasons to vote Gorillaz, so if that ain't enough you're probably not the type of fan we should be after anyway. But, y'know, if you do need to be spoon-fed any further reasons, tune your radio in and if you're lucky you might just catch a dose of Gorillaz live in the studio."
